A stoic ring puts a Stoic idea where you will see it every day: the four virtues, memento mori or amor fati. The rings here are made to order in 925 sterling silver or gold vermeil, and you can add a line from Marcus Aurelius or Seneca inside the band.

What each design says
| Design | Meaning | Inscription idea |
|---|---|---|
| Four virtues | Wisdom, justice, courage and temperance | The four Latin words |
| Memento mori | Remember that you will die | A date, or tempus fugit |
| Amor fati | Love of fate: accept what happens | Your initials |
The four Stoic virtues
Stoics held that wisdom, justice, courage and temperance are the only true goods, and that the rest is indifferent. The four virtues ring shows all four on one face, so it works as a short daily check on how you act.
Memento mori and amor fati
Memento mori is a reminder of death, meant to make today count. Amor fati, a phrase made famous by Nietzsche, describes the Stoic habit of accepting what happens instead of resenting it. Both read well on a skull or a plain signet face.
Your own inscription
Most designs take a short line inside the band. Popular choices are Seneca's 'We suffer more in imagination than in reality', a Latin motto, or a date that matters to you. Keep it under about 30 characters for clean engraving.
Where it is made
We make each ring by hand in our workshop in Ankara, Turkey: cast, engraved and finished one at a time. US orders ship free and tracked with duties paid, so there is nothing to pay on delivery. Production takes about 2 business days after any proof is approved.
Frequently asked questions
What is a stoic ring?
It is a ring engraved with a Stoic idea, most often the four virtues, memento mori or amor fati. People wear it as a daily reminder of a principle, much like a coin carried in a pocket.
What are the four Stoic virtues?
Wisdom, justice, courage and temperance. The Stoics, including Marcus Aurelius, Seneca and Epictetus, taught that these four are the only real goods and that a good life means acting by them.
What does memento mori mean on a ring?
It is Latin for remember that you will die. On a ring it works as a prompt to use the day well, and it is often paired with a skull, an hourglass or tempus fugit.
Is amor fati a Stoic phrase?
The phrase comes from Nietzsche, but the idea of accepting and even loving what happens runs through Marcus Aurelius and Epictetus. That is why amor fati rings sit beside Stoic designs.
Can I engrave a quote inside a stoic ring?
Yes. Add a short line, about 30 characters or less, in the personalization box. We engrave it inside the band and show it on the proof when the design has custom work.
